Julie Day has been involved with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities since the original Code of Practice was introduced. Her 32 year career began as a primary school teacher but her role in school improvement has spread across primary, secondary and special schools.
Julie’s most recent position was that of regional director for SEND, and lead academy improvement partner for a Multi Academy Trust spreading over Yorkshire and East Riding. Before that she was the Adviser for SEND in the school improvement service for a Yorkshire based Local Authority (LA). Other previous roles include:
Head of Inclusion Development Team (strategic work for a Yorkshire based LA)
Inclusion Consultant (strategic work for a Yorkshire based LA)
Line manager of Autism Support Service, Hearing Impaired Service, Visually Impaired Service, Traveller and Ethnic Minority Service, SEN team (statementing/EHC) for a Yorkshire based LA
Special Needs Co-Ordinator and Inclusion Manager

She has post graduate qualifications in relation to inclusive/SEND practice.
